One of our favourite table ever made. Versatile and reliable, this is a must.

How to pick an affordable Air Hockey table?

In this article, we try to list the best and most relevant air hockey tables by taking in consideration important factors such as Price, Size and Quality.

The bad news is this makes the job of picking the best budget air hockey table much harder.

It’s impossible to buy a table that does everything well at this price point. So prioritize the features that matter most to you, whether it’s price, scoreboard, light-up table and equipment, or size.

It’s difficult to get straight A’s in every single one of these needs, but if you’re able to tolerate the occasional B, you’ll find a table you’ll love.

Price (affordability)

To make it into the list, it was important that these tables were $500 or less  While collecting feedback and our own experience we realized that some tables could be found for as little as $150. Obviously, different price means different needs but we believe you will find the right table for you here.

Size

Size is important depending on who will use the table. Kids might be ok with a small or tabletop table while if you are looking to have fun for the whole family, a large table will make a lot more sense.

Quality and reliability

Sometimes, low price means low quality. By shortlisting the following tables, we wanted to make sure we were only selecting the most relevant and reliable tables.

So, without further ado, see the best air hockey tables under $500.

Best air hockey tables under $500

PUCK Frost 4-Foot Folding Air Hockey Table

One of my friends was looking for a simple table for his young kids to play with and he found in this folding air hockey table. This table offers great family fun for a reasonable price.

Pros
  • Probably the best table under $150 (at the time of writing)
  • Small (48-inch), portable and lightweight (37 pounds) table
  • Comes with a set of pucks, strikers and a storage bag (which is very helpful given that you will probably fold it and move it around)
  • You can use this table as a tabletop, with the legs folded
  • Easy set-up
  • Great customers' experience overall
  • For the size and price, the air blower works extremely well.
Cons
  • Could be built more sturdy
  • This will probably only suit kids 7 to 12 years old, and adults from time to time
  • No scoreboard but you should not expect one at this price
Conclusion

Small, lightweight and portable, it is probably the best table you can get under $150. Also, the foldable legs make it so easy to store away (also comes with a small storage bag for the pucks and strikers which is going to be helpful to keep the table and equipment together in one place).

You can also play the table folded on a table, or even a bed.

Now, don't expect to play international tournament on this, this is a table for kids, let's say 7-12 years old first and foremost on which you and guests can play occasionally.

Pros
  • Simple design but great extra features.
  • Medium to large-size table (6-ft/72-inch), and quite light for its size (75 pounds).
  • Dual motors provides continuous air flow. With a table of this size, this is important.

  • We love the clear / light-up pucks - these are not common! This really differentiate from all other tables and helps elevate the gaming experience.
  • You can play in the dark if you want to!
  • Great customers' experience overall
Cons
  • Fairly easy installation under one hour. However, provided allen key might not be of best quality so using your own might help speed up the process.
  • Electronics can fail. (LED lighting, puck/pushers, music, power, air blower). This is always a concern when providing a table with such features at a entry-level price.
  • The puck's battery is not rechargeable, unlike pusher's batteries.
  • The warranty is only 90 days.
  • As usual with tables of this size, some get damaged during transit, and getting a replacement or exchange might be tricky. However, this doesn't happen often.
  • The manufacturers advices this is for kids aged 8-11 years. As a result, if too much force is used when playing (or if adults play) you may experience flying pucks. Pucks sometimes doesn't stay in and ends up on the floor.

The manufacturers does recommend kids 8 to 11 years old to use this table as

people with too much force or adults may experience flying pucks.

One of the downsides of this electronics-heavy table is the reliability. Some users report failing electronics across the table and accessory. Even though this is not a must-buy, if you believe you may need the extra features, don't hesitate.

NOTE

LED Puck replacement - an alternative to LED puck and flyers is glow in the dark pucks like the Dynamo Air Hockey Official 2-1/2" Fluorescent Puck.

As they don't require electronics, they are more reliable over time and still a lot of fun to play with.
